Nicolas Grenier is an incredible artist.  His portraits make use of super-saturated colours and deep shadows, reminding me of stills taken from old super-8 footage.  He also has a series of paintings featuring some of the creepiest lego men and women you are likely to come across (creepy in a very good way.)
