Can I admit something here? Frankly, I’m a little in awe right now of John Kelley. Not only does he make a living from his art, but he has managed to build (almost single-handedly) his own art studio, he maintains a blog to feature the incredible landscape and still life paintings he creates in that studio, and he does it all while having five children. I feel tired just thinking about it all.

Yep. John’s pretty dang cool. I took
him with me to the beach so he
could paint. It was great to see him
work and descibe his approch to art
and his family. Can’t wait to get my
hands on the paintings I have waiting
for me!
I have to agree. I was one of several friends who helped – a very little – with his studio, putting up insulation and, oddly, painting. But John had already built the structure, walls, windows, roof, etc., and was mostly done with the siding. I admit to being envious; I’d love to be able to walk next door to work, and not have to drive.
In my rush to post about John’s amazing work I absent-mindedly dropped the last “e” in Kelley. My apologies for the error. The part about having 5 children however was not a typo, and I’m still in awe that anyone could get anything else done while raising 5 children.
